MK: ANNUAL MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS



Air Mauritius held its annual meeting of Shareholders today, Monday 24 July 2017 at the Hennessy Park Hotel in Ebène. Company accounts for Financial Year 2016/17 were approved, five new Board Directors were elected and the appointment of Mr. Somas Appavou as Chief Executive Officer ratified.

The company posted an all-time record profit of Rs 1.06 billion (EUR 26.9 million) for Financial Year 2016/2017. The airline also offered a record number of seats (2,136,394) and carried a record number of passengers (1,602,632).

New Leadership

Chairman, Dr Arjoon Suddhoo, introduced new Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Somas
Appavou, whom he stated, was also entrusted with the responsibility of leading an ambitious
investment programme. Mr. Appavou took office on 14 July 2017.

By the end of the year, Air Mauritius will take delivery of two new Airbus A350-900 XWB, marking the start of its fleet modernisation programme that will see the delivery of eight new aircraft in the coming years. A cabin retrofit programme will be completed on six aircraft of the existing fleet by June 2018, following which Air Mauritius will also offer similar cabin experiences on these aircraft, that is full flat business class seats (except on the A319), onboard Wi-Fi and a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system with full HD screens.

The airline is also investing in its network, expanding operations on the Air Corridor with up to five direct flights to Singapore as from next year. As from November 2017, it will start seasonal flights to Geneva and operations to Amsterdam with partner Air France/KLM.

These developments follow the introduction of twice-daily flights to Pierrefonds, Reunion Island in April this year.
