Sadio Mane should not have been sent off against Manchester City, says Mark Clattenburg

Sadio Mane should not have been sent off in Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City, according to former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg.

The Senegal international was given a straight red card in the first half of the match at the Etihad Stadium after his challenge with City’s goalkeeper Ederson.

Mane had raced through on goal but caught Ederson in the face with his raised boot.

Referee Jon Moss dismissed Mane over the incident, meaning that he will now miss Liverpool’s next three domestic matches.

But Clattenburg, who left the Premier League in February, insists the decision was incorrect.
