Le Nobel de médecine à deux Américains et à un Allemand



STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – Le prix Nobel de médecine a été attribué lundi aux Américains James Rothman et Randy Schekman et à l’Allemand Thomas Südhof pour leurs travaux sur les cellules et les vésicules cytoplasmiques. “Le prix Nobel 2013 honore trois chercheurs qui ont élucidé le mystère de la manière dont une cellule organise son système de transport”, note l’institut Karolinska de Suède. James Rothman, né 1950 à Haverhill, dans le Massachusetts, est passé par l’université californienne de Stanford, où il a entamé ses recherches et a rejoint l’université de Yale en 2008. Né en 1948 à St Paul dans le Minnesota, Randy Schekman a travaillé avec James Rothman à Stanford et travaille aujourd’hui à Berkeley. L’Allemand Thomas Südhof, né en 1955 à Göttingen, a accompli l’essentiel de sa carrière de chercheur aux Etats-Unis.
