Maurice à l’honneur sur l’échiquier africain : Sherry Singh, CEO de MT, rafle le titre de « Industry Personality of the Year 2017 » au FTTX Council Africa. Mauritius Telecom nommé « Operator of the Year » pour la 2ème année consécutive.

Juanita Clark (CEO FTTX Council Africa) : “The completion of FTTH project positions Mauritius among the top countries worldwide to be fibered.”

“The implementation of the redesigned FTTH network has rated Mauritius Telecom amongst the top 10 countries in the world in 2017 and the completion of the FTTH project will reposition Mauritius amongst the top countries worldwide for the based fibre coverage”, a déclaré Juanita Clark, CEO du FTTX Council Africa.

Sherry Singh (CEO Mauritius Telecom) : “We understood that we are not just rolling out a countrywide fiber network. We understood that what we are doing is enabling tomorrow.

“In 2015, we set the vision for completing a complete national roll-out within 3 years. And then in early 2016 we decided to “accelerate the acceleration” like we like to call it, and we basically decided, ‘no, we are going to finish this before the end of 2017. As we stand today, our fiber roll-out is at 95% of the households in terms of home passed. 210 000 homes are already connected. And the speed that we can offer today to business as well as individual homes is 100 megabits per second. So why did we do it? We looked at what are the needs of our consumers today, and we looked at the evolution of the needs of our society as well as of our country : we want to position ourselves as a smart nation and a smart country. There was no choice. We had to take that decision. The second aspect that I think has really sort of bound everyone together, from our suppliers to our staff to our partners, is the fact that we understood that we are not just rolling out a countrywide fiber network. We understood that what we are doing is enabling tomorrow”, a conclu M. Singh.
