Racing Tips-30th Meeting-Colonel Draper Cup

1st Race (0-15 – 1500m)
It was another case of so near yet so far for #4 NEWSMAN in his recent run. He can set the record straight here. #1 Midnight Oracle produced a cracker of a showing just three meetings ago, opening his account for the season. He is capable of doubling up even over the Draper’s Mile. #2 Million Dollar Man ended up 1.7 lengths behind the winner in his last start, despite being denied a clear run and stumbling before the final straight. He is capable of rebounding. #8 Bypass did not finish very far behind the winner in his last showing. He is not prevented from contesting the finish in this.
Our Favourite: #4 NEWSMAN
Danger: #2 Million Dollar Man
Dark Horse: #8 Bypass

2nd Race (0-25 – 1850m)
#1 CITADEL was inconvenienced at a crucial stage in the home straight last time out. He has a genuine chance of bouncing back here. #6 Eagles Vision must not be judged on his last run, as he did not have everything in his favour. He can go very close in this. #3 Overdose struck in the 16th meeting. He has not come close since. He will appreciate running in this lower class and is capable of showing his true colours. #2 Mounted Warrior and #5 Perfect Pursuit finished well in their previous races respectively. Both are capable of being right in the mix in this.
Our Favourite: #1 CITADEL
Danger: #6 Eagles Vision
Dark Horse: #5 Perfect Pursuit

3rd Race (B.36 – 1365m)
Not much to choose from in this very ordinary field and perhaps it is worth siding with #6 HARDWIRED, who is for two for two this season. He returns to racing after having contracted a fever following his winning run last time out, and has progressed mightily in terms of condition and form. #1 Alameery did what he could in his last run. He has winning form in this class and if he manages to dictate proceedings, he will be hard to catch. #3 Short Cut has yet to prove his worth. He has showed bags of improvement at track work recently and is capable of making his presence felt. #4 Bound By Duty and #5 Savvy can fight it to complete the quartet.
Our Favourite: #6 HARDWIRED
Danger: #1 Alameery
Dark Horse: #3 Short Cut

4th Race (B.41 – 1850m)
After opening his account in the 21st meeting, #5 PFORZHEIM doubled the score in terrific style on Maiden Cup day. Still in excellent form, he can seal his hat-trick here. #3 Giggin won by a whopping 4 lengths in his last start. He remains well and can double the score. #6 Six Degrees was a major disappointment in his recent run. He is capable of much better and can be right in the mix. #4 Senor’s Guest is much better than what he served up last time out. It would be wrong to put a line through his chances. #2 Drop Kick showed up very strongly in his previous attempt. He can make the frame in this.
Our Favourite: #5 PFORZHEIM
Danger: #3 Giggin
Dark Horse: #2 Drop Kick

5th Race (50+ – 1365m)
Cases can be made for almost every runner in this contest! #1 Count Jack showed bags of improvement in the feature race of the 22nd meeting. He is very close to his optimal form, and a big run is forthcoming from him. #4 Rob Roy made it look very simple in his recent attempt. Even over the 1365 metres, he is more than capable of confirming. #6 MARAUDING remains winless this season, although he has gone close on more than one occasion. He will appreciate the slightly longer trip and having worked to satisfaction, he is primed for a bold bid. #5 Triple Fate Line has struck in all but one of his outings this season, including in his previous attempt. Even against tougher opponents, he is a big player in this. #3 Horse Guards has come out well from his last run. He is capable of running on major improvement. #2 Alramz’s recent form may not make good reading, but he has showed up well at track work, and is capable of making his presence felt.
Our Favourite: #6 MARAUDING
Danger: #5 Triple Fate Line
Dark Horse: #1 Count Jack

6th Race – The Colonel Draper Cup (Group 2 – 1500m)
Following his dramatic win in the Barbe Cup, #1 UNDERCOVER AGENT has since added two more Group races to his collection. He has benefited from a break and sets the standard in this contest. #4 Kamadeva is his biggest danger. He had no problems in renewing with success in the Princess Margaret Cup meeting. He remains a very consistent sort and his own chances of confirming are more than genuine. #2 Alyaasaat’s last run must be ignored as it was too bad to be true. Having worked to satisfaction, he can show his true colours. #3 Baritone could well have done better than 3rd in the Princess Margaret Cup. With only 55.5kg on his back, he will be a genuine threat in the closing stages.
Our Favourite: #1 UNDERCOVER AGENT
Danger: #4 Kamadeva
Dark Horse: #3 Baritone

7th Race (B.31 – 1500m)
#7 OPAGUE struck from the ace in the 22nd meeting, thanks to a bold ride from Yashin Emamdee. He remains very well and is taken to confirm with Rye Joorawon on board. #5 Al Madhar produced a cracker of a showing in his last run, opening his account on our turf. He is capable of doubling up. #1 Never Fear made his seasonal debut just three meetings ago. Incredibly, he overcame his wide draw to visit the winner’s enclosure. He remains very well and from his very good draw, his own chances of confirming must not be taken lightly. #9 Well Connected caught the eye with his finish in his previous start, coming right from the back to complete the podium. If he can get it right at the start here, he can certainly contest the finish. #3 Skip The Red justified his status as favourite in his last showing. He can be thereabouts in this.
Our Favourite: #7 OPAGUE
Danger: #5 Al Madhar
Dark Horse: #9 Well Connected

8th Race (0-25 – 1500m)
#1 CARLTON HEIGHTS was unable to make his presence felt in his last run. Down in class this time round and in improved shape and form, he can mount a bold bid. #6 Lead Singer produced his best showing yet in his previous start. Runner-up on that occasion, he can go one better. #7 Supreme Orator was last seen finishing runner-up to Ruby Spirit in the 11th meeting. He runs well fresh and is worthy of consideration. #4 Follow Suit ran below expectations in his last showing. He has landed the perfect draw here and is not prevented from showing up. For the lower placings, #2 Moon Jumper and #5 Middle Path are good contenders.
Our Favourite: #1 CARLTON HEIGHTS
Danger: #6 Lead Singer
Dark Horse: #4 Follow Suit
