MAURITIUS RACING TIPS – 31ST MEETING – 2021
1st Race (0-20 – 990m)
#1 TROJAN QUEST produced his best showing of the season in his last run, finishing runner-up to Coup For Lute. In this ordinary field, he sets the standard here. #2 Manolete must not be judged on his previous run, as he competed in a far higher category. In this lower category, he should be competitive from the off. #5 Arctic Flyer’s best results this season have come over this trip and in this low class. He is capable of being in the shake-up. #4 What A Kid has been entered once again and can be thereabouts if given a good ride, while #6 Giant Cruise has been well-prepared for his debut and with Ivaldo Santana on board, he is to be watched closely.
Our Favourite: #1 TROJAN QUEST
Danger: #2 Manolete
Dark Horse: #4 What A Kid
2nd Race (0-25 – 1400m)
#1 NIKHILS INN gave it his best shot in his last start. He was runner-up on that occasion and if he can reproduce that effort, he can make amends. #4 Sacred Night has performed honestly in his last two races, finishing not very far behind the winner. Having worked to satisfaction, he is capable of mounting a bold bid. #7 San Andreas may not have made his presence felt in his recent races, but he has shown improvement at track work, and with Benedict Woodworth riding in confidence, he can be in the shake-up. #6 Capkuta did what he could in the final race of Maiden Cup day. He has since changed yards and can make his presence felt. #3 Tyrian and #9 Time Is Gold are good contenders for the lower placings.
Our Favourite: #1 NIKHILS INN
Danger: #4 Sacred Night
Dark Horse: #6 Capkuta
3rd Race (B.41 – 1500m)
#8 EMBLEM OF HOPE made it look easy in the 26th meeting, sealing his hat-trick with the utmost of ease. He is taken to make it four from four from the ace. #5 Crimson God made the headlines in the 27th meeting, earning the Samraj Mahadia yard their first win. He remains very well and looks the likeliest to take advantage of any slip up from the overwhelming favourite. #3 Bestday Of Mylife has had to settle for second in each of his last two races. He usually performs very consistently and won’t be very far away in this. #4 Borya was far from disgraced in his previous run over the 1850 metres. If he can get it right at the start, he can be thereabouts. #7 Camp David and #2 Jet Stream are good contenders for the lower placings.
Our Favourite: #8 EMBLEM OF HOPE
Danger: #5 Crimson God
Dark Horse: #4 Borya
4th Race (B.46 – 1365m)
#1 ALL ABOUT THE BASS was a good-looking 3rd just three meetings ago. He is down in class and is taken to run a cracker. #3 Watch Me Dad lost his chances in his last start, getting a tardy getaway. He has showed up very strongly at track work and even over this short trip, he can go very close. #6 Mac ‘N Scar represents a yard that is bang on form, and is capable of bettering the 4th place he got in his previous start. #5 Carlas Mambo and #8 The Byzantine can fight it out to complete the quartet.
Our Favourite: #1 ALL ABOUT THE BASS
Danger: #3 Watch Me Dad
Dark Horse: #6 Mac ‘N Scar
5th Race (B.51 – 1500m)
#7 AFDEEK comes into this race having won two on the bounce. This Ricky Maingard-trained gelding remain in good order and it won’t be a surprise if he manages to seal his hat-trick. #2 Duke’s Domain produced a bold showing in his last start, scoring his second win of the season. He remains well and is capable of doubling the score. #8 Cyber Special’s had won and finished runner-up twice in the three runs before running below expectations in his last run. He has worked to satisfaction and is a big player in this. #3 King Of Tara did what he could in a far higher category in his previous run. He should feel at ease in this lower class and is capable of renewing with success. #6 Sea Dance might have found the 1650 metres too long in his previous attempt. Still, he managed to complete the quartet on that occasion and in this contest, he can make his presence felt.
Our Favourite: #7 AFDEEK
Danger: #2 Duke’s Domain
Dark Horse: #6 Sea Dance
6th Race – The KMK2 – Coupe des Presidents (Group 2 – 2100m)
#2 PATROL OFFICER’S last win came in this very race last year. He has struck the woodwork more than once this season and is capable of setting the record straight. #1 Twist Of Fate was an honourable 3rd in the Maiden Cup. He has showed complete satisfaction at track work and even if he is carrying a whopping 61kg, he can mount a bold bid. #3 Spring Man scored a brilliant win in the 5th race of Maiden Cup day. He is not prevented from doubling the score.
Our Favourite: #2 PATROL OFFICER
Danger: #1 Twist Of Fate
Dark Horse: #3 Spring Man
7th Race (B.31 – 990m)
At first glance, a finish of 5th and 4.3 lengths behind the winner constitutes a poor showing for #6 POINCIANA. However, it is worth noting he had a difficult run throughout and plodded in the home straight. He can show his true colours in this contest. #1 Marula was the best of the rest behind Remus in the Princess Margaret Cup meeting. Down in class, he can go one better. #5 Desert Boy was a major disappointment in his previous run. He has benefited from a short break and as he is in good condition, he can bounce back. #3 Straight did what he could in his last run. He races for the first time since changing yards and can be thereabouts. #9 Rock Manor and #4 Crazy Charlie can fight it out to complete the quartet.
Our Favourite: #6 POINCIANA
Danger: #1 Marula
Dark Horse: #3 Straight
8th Race (0-26 – 1650m)
#2 OXFORD BLUE can finally get his first career win in this final contest. His recent form makes very good reading, having finished runner-up in each of his last two runs. #4 Eagles Vision runs again following his 3rd place last Sunday. He is rated as the biggest threat to the selection. #1 Cloud Seeder did not come close to making his presence felt in his last run. Before that, he had struck and that was franked last Saturday when the runner-up bounced back. He is worthy of consideration in this. #6 Subtropical produced a somewhat solid showing in his recent run. He can be thereabouts once again.
Our Favourite: #2 OXFORD BLUE
Danger: #4 Eagles Vision
Dark Horse: #6 Subtropical
