Sven’s Chinese takeaway
SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON has taken over as manager at Chinese outfit Guangzhou R&F.
The former England boss, 65, requested to leave his role as technical director of UAE side Al Nasr after being offered a new opportunity in the Far East. A Guangzhou statement read: “The club’s board of directors has today officially hired Sven-Goran Eriksson as Guangzhou football coach until December 2014.
“Coach Li Bing will from today no longer serve as the acting head coach.”
China is just the latest in a long list of destinations for the well-travelled Swede. He has previously coached the national teams of Mexico and Ivory Coast as well as numerous clubs, including Lazio and Manchester City.
