Liverpool FC’s Daniel Sturridge in Jamaica for foundation event

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is in Jamaica to celebrate the work of his charitable foundation.

The England international, who is currently recovering from surgery on a troublesome hip injury, flew to Kingston to take part in a family fun day of football and music with local youngsters.

The Daniel Sturridge Foundation was launched in 2013 with the aim of helping young people out of poverty through sport and entertainment.

The 25-year-old has strong links with Jamaica as both of his grandparents are from the Caribbean island.

There was a football tournament at Tinsel Pen playing fields before a music concert with performances from the likes of reggae star Jason ‘JahSon’ Scott.

Sturridge, who was limited to just 12 starts in all competitions during an injury-ravaged season for Liverpool, will miss the start of the new campaign and is expected to be back training in September.
