Labour force, Employment and Unemployment – 4th Quarter 2018
- Among an estimated 992,800 Mauritians aged 16 years and over in the fourth quarter of 2018, around 591,300 were in the labour force (economically active), with 553,200 employed and 38,100 unemployed (14,800 males and 23,300 females). The remaining 401,500 persons were outside labour force.
- The unemployment rate for the fourth quarter of 2018 is estimated at 6.4%, lower than the rates of 6.7% and 6.9% at the fourth quarter of 2017 and at the third quarter of 2018 respectively.
- Unemployment rate for the year 2018 worked out to 6.9% compared to 7.1% in 2017.
