COMMUNIQUE

In the context of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the Consumer Protection (Price and Supplies Control) Act 1998 and the Consumer Protection (Control of Price of Taxable and Non-taxable Goods) Regulations 1998 have been amended with effect from 23 March 2020 to fix the retail price of onions and potatoes at Rs 40 per kg.

The Consumer Protection (Price and Supplies Control) (Amendment of Schedule) (No. 2) Regulations 2020 and the Consumer Protection (Control of Price of Taxable and Non-taxable Goods) Regulations 2020 may be consulted on the website of the Ministry, https://commerce.govmu.org.

Traders are requested to comply with the Regulations, failing which appropriate action will be taken by the Ministry and the Police.
