British High Commission Covid-19 Fund…

1. We are pleased to announce the launch the British High Commission

Covid-19 Fund. The coronavirus outbreak is the biggest public health emergency in a generation and we have witnessed its impact in countries all over the world, including here in Mauritius.

2. The UK has led the international response to support vulnerable countries and

we have so far pledged up to £764 million ($964 million) of UK aid to end the coronavirus pandemic as quickly as possible.

3. The Covid-19 Fund has been created to support projects by Mauritian

stakeholders in need of funding to address the impact of the pandemic locally. We are inviting proposals from civil society, commercial organisations, academic institutions and government entities.

4. Proposals should not be more than Rs450,000 and projects must show a

clear link to Covid-19 and focus on the following priority areas:

i) Economic recovery and response, including around climate, health and

business; ii) Support to vulnerable groups within Mauritius; iii) Impact on green and sustainable policies and/or activities.

5. The full details on submitting proposals are enclosed.

6. When launching the Covid-19 Fund, British High Commissioner Keith Allan

“The coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on all of our lives. The UK is playing a leading role in the international response and we want to support Mauritius with its recovery. This funding will help civil society, commercial organisations, academic institutions and government entities to take forward projects that will support the economic recovery, assist vulnerable groups in Mauritius, and help to mitigate the impact on green and sustainable policies. We look forward to receiving exciting and innovative proposals.’
