These were all topics that were addressed by Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth during his solemn speech on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of Mauritius’ independence and the 30th anniversary since its accession to the status of Republic.
“Depi 1968, nou tou ine travay ensam to build his country la. Nou fine crosses a lot cyclone ek ine overcomes many obstacles. In the end nou fine touzour overcome adversity ek nou fine successful”. This is in essence what the Head of Government, Pravind Jugnauth, said in his message to the nation on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of our independence and the 30 years since our accession to the status of Republic. “Although we could not organize major celebrations at the Champ de Mars to celebrate the anniversary of our independence and our republic, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I am sure and certain that the national anthem will resonate in the hearts of all Mauritians on March 12,” he said.
