STAKES REDUCTION WHEN LESS THAN SIX HORSES IN A RACE
The Mauritius Turf Club hereby advises that with effect from race meeting number 20 to be run on 3rd August 2019, should any race be run with less than 6 horses a proportional reduction of the
gross stake payable will apply. For example, should the normal stake payable in a race be MUR 100 000-00 the proportional reduction will apply as follows.
6 horses and above MUR100 000-00
5 horses 5/6 of stake MUR 83 333.33
4 horses 4/6 of stake MUR 66 666.67
3 horses 3/6 of stake MUR 50 000.00
This revised arrangement has been introduced as a result of the significantly lower betting turnover that results from races with less than 6 horses. The trainers have been advised of this decision.
Should a late scratching (after the race card has been printed) result in a race starting with less than 6 runners, the same proportional reduction in the stake payable, as detailed above, will apply.
