Les quatre Best-Losers sont connus à l’issue des élections générales du 10 novembre 2024. Dianette Henriette-Manan et Jacques Edouard de l’Alliance Libération de Rodrigues sont les deux premiers élus. Tandis qu’Adrien Duval et Joe Lesjongard sont les choisis dans le camp de l’Alliance Lepep. Le président du MSM est bien parti pour devenir le prochain leader de l’Opposition.

National Assembly Elections 2024 –
Determination of unreturned candidates entitled to be allocated seats
in the National Assembly under paragraph 5 of the First Schedule to the Constitution
I have the honour to report that following the National Assembly Elections 2024,
the Returning Officers have returned –
(a)
(b)
60 candidates over the 20 constituencies of Mauritius belonging to the
successful party [Alliance du Changement]; and
2 candidates for the Constituency of Rodrigues belonging to the
successful party [Organisation du Peuple de Rodrigues (OPR)].
All the candidates of the only 2 successful parties [Alliance du Changement and
Organisation du Peuple de Rodrigues (OPR)] have been returned.

Pursuant to regulation 52 of the National Assembly Elections Regulations 2014, I
have this day, 12th of November 2024, at 8.00 p.m., in the Conference Room of the
Office of the Electoral Commissioner, situate on the 9th floor of Max City Building, Port
Louis, being the day, time and place appointed for the abovementioned purpose,
examined the returns made by the Returning Officers, pursuant to regulation 50 of the
aforesaid Regulations, with a view to determining which of the unreturned candidates
for the National Assembly Elections 2024 are entitled to be allocated seats under
paragraph 5 of the First Schedule to the Constitution.

In carrying out this exercise, I have been assisted by the following persons to

4 Paragraph 5(3) of the First Schedule to the Constitution provides as follows –
(3) The first 4 of the 8 seats shall so far as is possible each be allocated to the
most successful unreturned candidate, if any, who is a member of a party
and who belongs to the appropriate community, regardless of which party
he belongs to.
5 In application of paragraph 5(3) of the First Schedule to the Constitution, the
appropriate community in respect of the first 4 of the 8 seats is General Population. The
respective candidates who therefore qualify for the first 4 of the 8 seats are the
following –
1st seat: HENRIETTE-MANAN, Dianette, with 46.808% of votes and member of
“Alliance Liberation”;
2nd seat: EDOUARD, Jacques, with 44.696% of votes and member of “Alliance
Liberation”;
3rd seat: DUVAL, Adrien Charles, with 32.665% of votes and member of “L’Alliance
Lepep”;
4th seat: LESJONGARD, Georges Pierre, also known as Joe Lesjongard, with 30.868%
of votes and member of “L’Alliance Lepep”.
6 There being no unreturned candidate belonging to the most successful party
[Alliance du Changement], paragraph 5(4) of the First Schedule to the Constitution does
not find its application in this instance.
7 To the extent that there are no successful parties, other than Alliance du
Changement and Organisation du Peuple de Rodrigues (OPR), paragraphs 5(5) and 5(6)
of the First Schedule to the Constitution also do not find their application.
