Aux Assises…le constable Kevin Joumont, complice de Capitaine et de Gros Samuel écope de 8 ans de prison
Il avait fait la connaissance de Nitiraj Gurroby alias Capitaine à travers Jean Lucando Prudence, alias Gros Samuel. Il était au courant que ce dernier était lié au trafic de drogue et que Capitaine était son ‘patron’.
Le constable Kevin Gary Joumont a été condamné à huit ans de prison, ce jeudi 27 mars, pour complicité dans l’affaire de saisie de 3,7 milliards de roupies de drogue qui appartiendraient aux frères Gurroby. Le policier avait prêté son véhicule pour le transport de la drogue le 29 avril 2021 de Péreybère jusqu’à Pointe-aux-Canonniers et avait avoué les faits lors de son interrogatoire. Le véhicule était conduit par Geoffrey Kurson Imbe.
“Capitaine proposed him a deal whereby he would be required to furnish “renseignments lors sa business la drogue la”against payment, which he agreed. He bought a new mobile phone and got a new sim card to be used for communications with Capitaine” ecrit le juge Pravin Harrah dans son jugement.
Vu que tout de suite après son arrestation il a avoué les faits et a coopéré avec la police pour permettre le démantèlement de cet important réseau de drogue, le constable a bénéficié des circonstances atténuantes en sa faveur.
“While the weight and street value of the drugs secured may be termed as a ‘record seizure’, the fact remains that the accused had limited and minimal involvement in the present matter in the sense that he knowingly lent his van to be used for conveying dangerous drugs. Now, the seriousness of the offence cannot be overlooked in as much as the accused as a police officer while occupying a position of trust was at the same time assisting a network of drug traffickers by agreeing to provide information as and when needed and by aiding and abetting to transport dangerous drugs. It is undeniable that the accused has provided invaluable information to the Police which led to the arrest of other accused in the connected case. Accused has from the outset cooperated with the Police which clearly goes to both his and his Counsel’s credit. While he should be punished, he should also in effect be rewarded for the assistance and help provided to the police” a conclu le juge qui a donc infligé une peine de 8 ans de servitude pénale à Kevin Joumont dont sera déduit les 1366 jours passés en détention provisoire avant son procès.
